Teaching
A year later I opened a teaching studio at Craft Habitat in Richmond where I ran art classes for children and painting classes for adults, discovering that helping people to develop their creativity gave me a real buzz. It also provided a good life balance as painting is a very solitary activity. For years I worked happily on my own, but teaching has helped to bring out the extrovert in me.
In 2011 I was appointed as a tutor at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) where I taught for 4 years in the Creative Industries Arts and Media programme. In 2015 I started teaching night classes and weekend workshops as part of the Adult Community Education (ACE) programme at NMIT which was reinstated that year.
Unfortunately the ACE programme is no longer offered at NMIT but they do still run short courses available for anyone over the age of 15 years.
